Capestang
Capestang is the closest village, only 10 minutes´ drive or 25 minutes by bike from Maison Quarante. A few bikes are available in the Mansion. With its friendly people, it´s the perfect relaxing spot. You will find icon attractions like the impressive cathedral Collegiale Saint-Etienne. Capestang is a gateway to the Canal du Midi. Capestang Bridge is a "must see".  You will find shops, local markets, nice restaurants and street cafes where you can enjoy a lovely meal and a chilled glass of wine. And if you enjoy outdoor activities, try the Electric Rando Moto. It's  an amazing and fun way to get to know the town.

Narbonne

Drive 30 minutes southwest and you reach Narbonne. This historical city offers plenty of attractions for the whole family. Ideal to combine with a day on Narbonne Beach, or just enjoy the city with its street life, bars and restaurants where you can try one of the many culinary specialties. Narbonne was the regional capital during Roman times and has a rich cultural history, but it is also a lively city with street festivals and a lot of things going on.  The fresh market Les Halles de Narbonne is definitively worth a visit, both for the gastronomic experience and for the building itself.

Beziers

Only 30 minuttes drive from Maison Quarante you can visit Beziers. 
Beziers is one of the most ancient towns in Europe, founded 575 BC. You will find many historic sites like the Cathedrale Saint-Nazaire and ruins from Roman times. If you love shopping, try the Poligone Shopping mall.

Carcassonne  is your ultimate medieval city. A beautiful walled city with castles and history everywhere. There is a reason why the board game Carcassonne got its name. You find Carcassonne one hour drive from Maison Quarante. There are a number of activities connecting you and your family to the city history, and you may very well meet your knight in shining armour during your stay.  Carcassonne is a place you don't want to miss when you are in the area. If you get hungry. Try Le Cassoulet, the local speciality,  and enjoy the ever present local wine. ​
